In my country, GABON, there is an epidemic "à.la.mode" as one likes to say it here, it acts of Chikoungunya. By definition, Chikungunya is a disease due to a virus transmitted by the mosquitos. The name of this transmissible disease to the man means in Souhaéli "to go curved", thus describing the attitude of the people reached by the virus. The disease was described mainly in Africa, in Southeast Asia, in India, in Indonesia and in Pakistan. It appears especially during the rain season when the concentration of mosquitos is strongest. However, it is wise to note that Chikungunya is a viral disease not mortal but the after-effects can be important. According to WHO, Chikungunya is a disease known as dengue-like, i.e. it resembles the dengue much (muscular and articular pains, strong fever, eruption on the skin...). It is generally declared by a very strong fever, sometimes beyond the 40°C, lasting approximately 3 days. This fever is followed of an eruption of buttons and aches very painful, as of sharp pains of the articulations nailing the patient with the bed. The children present only seldom these articular pains. On their premises Chikungunya is translated like a simple influenza. Since the appearance of the epidemic of Chikungunya in Gabon, more than 7.800 cases were listed to date including 2.000 in Libreville for this week only. According to the hospital personnel looking after of Libreville and medical authorities', the epidemic takes alarming proportions. The anti-vectorial fight counters the vector of Chikungunya in Gabon constitutes the principal means of prevention, but since the beginning of the week, the medical authorities showed their limits. Let us specify that the environment and the climate are factors which support the propagation of the virus as well as that of paludism. Fortunately and in spite of its rapid propagation, the disease did not make any death for the moment. While waiting, the Gabonese authorities start an operation of desinsectisation of the districts touched by the epidemic in order to it éradiquer. The operation will have to last one year. For the moment, there is any treatment nor no vaccine to fight against the virus. The only treatment prescribes in this case is before very symptomatic resting on the anti-inflammatory drug and analgesics catch not stéroïdiens. Thus, the only true prevention to date thus consists in fighting the reproduction and the proliferation of the mosquitos by elimination of the larval stagnant water lodgings like any container likely to retain rainwater (pots of flowers, tires users, gutters of roof, etc...). The fight against the disease also passes by the application of larvicides treatments if the suppression of its sources appears impossible. With regard to the habitats, the use of insecticides and the installation of mosquito nets are essential
